Aschaffenburg, 19.05.2017. RAIL.ONE GmbH has chosen bayernhafen Aschaffenburg as the location for its new production facilities. The Neumarkt-based corporate group plans to manufacture up to 600,000 concrete sleepers per year from 2018 onwards, primarily destined for the German market.

As the city of Langen decided to re-assign usage of the site of its current production facilities, RAIL.ONE set about looking for a new location. During the search, the management of the corporate group quickly settled on the site architect, bayernhafen. Aschaffenburg provides them with ideal connections to the three transport modes of rail, inland waterway and road, key to both ensuring supplies of raw materials and for distributing manufactured concrete sleepers.

Production at the 35,000 m² site is due to start in March 2018. RAIL.ONE Project Manager Franz Geißler is very pleased with "the high-tech production facilities in Bavaria"; Managing Director, Verena Moosburger, also emphasised how happy she is with the choice of location. The company is planning to make a double-digit million euro investment.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Jürgen Herzing, the Mayor of the City of Aschaffenburg; Joachim Zimmermann, the Chief Executive Officer of bayernhafen Gruppe; and Port Director, Wolfgang Filippi. Employees of the general contractor, Forster Anlagen- und Stahlbau, the architecture firm, First Base, and Sinus Consult also took part in the ceremony.
