Secretary Gerhard Eck visits bayernhafen Aschaffenburg

Secretary of The Interior Gerhard Eck wanted to get an impression of the dynamic business location Aschaffenburg. Therefore he visited the Port of Aschaffenburg on Thursday, February 9th, 2012 along with the Member of Bavarian State Parliament Prof. Dr. Winfried Bausback. They were accompanied by local and district members of CSU Party.
Port Director Wolfgang Filippi gave an overview of the port development in recent years as well as the priorities for the future. "Sustainable land conversion and industry structure, efficient cargo handling and optimal infrastructure are the base for our success", said Filippi.
The following harbor tour took the participants past various development areas to Pollmeier. A tour of the factory showed the importance of timber as one of the foundation of regional industrial development.
Secretary Gerhard Eck was impressed: "The Port of Aschaffenburg is a future-proof location. Without exaggeration it can be called 'the power center of Lower Franconia'.”
